PROXY SERVICES:
CONFIGURING INTERNET EXPLORER 5.X


Step 1:   Click on "Tools" on the main menu bar, then from the drop-down list that appears select    "Internet Options."

    


Step 2:  The next screen to appear has several tabs across the top. Look for the one that says "Connections."  Click on this "Connections" tab.


    


Step 3A:  Select "Dial-up settings -- Settings" if you connect to the Internet using a telephone modem.  
Step 3B:  Select "LAN Settings" if you connect to the Internet using an ADSL or Cable modem.             

                                         


Step 4A -- Modem Users: In the "Settings" dialog box, check "Use automatic configuration script" and
then enter:  http://libproxy.calumet.purdue.edu/proxy.pac 

                   

                                                           
Step 4B -- LAN Users
: In the " LAN Settings" check "Use automatic configuration script" and
then enter:  http://libproxy.calumet.purdue.edu/proxy.pac 

                                               

        Press the OK button and you're done.


Step 5:  The next time (and every time thereafter) that you use a Library-licensed database from your non-Purdue machine, you will be requested to enter your identification information:

                                       

User Name = your last name
Password = University ID number (usually your social security number WITHOUT DASHES).
                    If you've requested a special University ID, it's that number without dashes.

Your non-Purdue PC can now access all products licensed for on-campus use only!
