Establishment of the Student employment advisory board

 

 

As described in the proposal, The Campus as Student Employer – A Purdue University Calumet Strategic Plan Initiative, submitted to the Senior Leadership Team by the Student Employment Task Force on July 7, 2003, following is the role of the Student Employment Advisory Board.

 

1.       Advise the Director of The Center for Career and Leadership Development and the Student Employment Coordinator and provide general advisory oversight for the on-campus student employment.

 

2.       Offer insight and ideas to the Assistant Student Employment Coordinator for the development of policies and procedures related to on-campus employment for students.

 

3.       Monitor the student employment program success through periodic assessment of the persistence and graduation rates of student employees v. non-employees.

 

4.       Propose enhancements to the program via assessments and measures.

 

5.       Provide a forum for employees and employers to exchange concerns, ideas, etc.

 

6.       Serve as a representative “sounding board” for on-campus student employment proposals.

 

The Chancellor will appoint the Advisory Board.
