RE:                  Executive Assistant to the Chancellor for Engagement

Purdue University Calumet has appointed a veteran northwest Indiana corporate communicator and alumna as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor for Engagement.

Regina D. Biddings joins the Purdue Calumet administration after having served since 2000 as director of communications and community relations at Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO). The East Chicago native and Merrillville resident, who previously worked in corporate communications for NIPSCO’s parent company, NiSource Inc., holds baccalaureate and master’s degrees in communication from Purdue Calumet.

It is exciting to have someone as accomplished as Regina joining our university team.  As a graduate, she is very passionate about Purdue Calumet.  She also brings outstanding experience and a huge network of northwest Indiana contacts and relationships, which will be very important in this position.

As Executive Assistant to the Chancellor for Engagement, she will represent Purdue Calumet and the Chancellor before external organizations and constituencies, including local and state governmental agencies and officials.  She also will support and advance university engagement efforts and assist the chancellor in various other on and off campus initiatives.

NIPSCO President Mark Maassel said, “Regina has been a valued member of the NIPSCO leadership team, and we will miss her outstanding communications skills, her enthusiasm and her many contributions to our organization.  At the same time, we are happy to see Regina gain a terrific opportunity to be part of the ongoing growth and success of Purdue University Calumet.  We look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with Purdue Calumet and Regina in the future.”

Regina Biddings’ career also includes positions in local radio broadcasting and corporate sales.  She begins her new position June 1, 2004.
