Research and Educational Policy Committee

TO:  Council of Faculty Delegates

 

RE:  ESTABLISHMENT OF GENERAL EDUCATION REVIEW COMMITTEES

 

Four committees are established to review the plan of study of each Bachelor’s degree program and to certify to the Research and Educational Policy Committee whether or not appropriate general education requirements have been identified for that program.  Each committee will be responsible for  one or two of the general education requirements.  The four committees are named by their areas of responsibility as follows:

 

            English Composition/Speech Communication

            Natural Science/Mathematics or Statistics

            Humanities/Social Sciences

            Computer Utilization

 

In the event a committee determines that a program is not in compliance with the general education requirements, the chair of that committee will communicate that determination to the appropriate department head.  Review committee decisions may be appealed to the Research and Educational Policy Committee.  Research and Educational Policy Committee decisions may be appealed to the Council of Faculty Delegates.

 

Membership on the committees will consist of all faculty elected to the Council of Faculty Delegates. Appointments to the committees will be made by the Research and Educational Policy Committee.  Each review committees will select a chair from among its membership. 

 

The General Education Review Committees will report to the Research and Educational Policy committee by April 15, 1997, and by February 1 in subsequent years.
