Re: Evaluation
Software
Date: November 16,
2004
RESOLVED:
Purdue University Calumet shall adopt a software program
(such as E-Campus) for gathering and processing data on course, teaching,
and/or learning evaluation that has web authentication security and is accessible
to all tenured and tenure-track faculty through each faculty member’s PC.
E-Campus by Scantron
Points to Consider
Advantages of E-Campus
- PUC
owns the system.
- Cost for
lifetime license is lower than previous costs when used for two or more
years (prorated over a 5 year period, cost is $8,000 per year.)
- Items
are current
- Provides
option of paper or web (can be used for distance education courses)
- Items can
be developed locally, providing flexibility in developing items for
individual departments and in arriving at norms
- Faculty
can develop the survey from a variety of sources (provided the source is
in the public domain.)
- Can be
used for formative as well as summative evaluation
- Provides
web authentication so only students in a course can access it and no
student can access it more than once
- Sites
can be expanded infinitely
