New course:   HONR 390 Junior Level Topics 

Justification:

This course provides the flexibility to deal with special topics in an honors program seminar at the junior level.

Key Features:

This is a special topics course similar to such courses in discipline areas restricted to students in the honors program.

May be repeated for credit.
Consent of the instructor.

Restricted to honors program students, this course will involve an investigation  of a specific problem or topic.

Impact on Students:

Only students in the honors program would be eligible.  The course would meet the requirement of honors program and may be used to satisfy a general education requirement if appropriate. This provides an option for students and flexibility for the Honors Program to examine specific or new topics and special situations.

Impact on Other Academic Units:

As with other special topic courses, this course would be offered with existing resources as the need occurs.

Impact on University Resources:

This course will not require any extraordinary library, software, or technological resources.
