New Course - ITS 300 Simulation and Game Development I |
Justification:

This course and the curriculum are based on the latest and most up to date information in regards to IT curriculum accreditation by CAC of ABET and industry standards. This is an information technology program within the spirit of the IT curriculum, satisfying the core, the first two years, and the specialization cluster in the second two years. Games are interdisciplinary on many levels. To create games requires collaboration among diverse existing fields, from audio and visual design to programming and project management. At the same time, digital gaming has given rise to new kinds of hybrid disciplines, such as game design and interactive storytelling. Considered as cultural media, a full critical understanding of games requires that we appreciate them in all of their social, psychological, historical, and aesthetic complexity, thus advocating a cross-disciplinary approach to game-related education. |

ITS 300 Simulation and Game Development I: ( Pattern 2 hours lecture, 2 hours lab, 3 hours credit ) (Prerequisite ITS 245) This course covers the concepts, methods, and techniques of simulation and game development programming. This course focuses on the mathematics related to game development, game and simulation programming techniques, algorithm design, data structures, game-specific software development, as well as the technical aspects of game testing. Extensive laboratory exercises are assigned. |
