Subject: New course OLS 343 - Hazardous Materials
Justification: The current class OLS 334 covers both fire protection and hazardous materials storage. This is too much material to cover adequately in one semester. In addition, students wishing to pursue the Emergency Management Certificate will be better served by the addition of the Hazardous Materials course. Each course will give students a better opportunity to master course material in greater depth. By creating two courses, student will have additional choices and flexibility in completing both degree and certificate programs. The same instructor or guest lecturer can generally be used to teach both OLS 334 and OLS 343.
