Justification:

This course was an elective when it was previously offered. We are now making it a required course in order

to help the generic students keep their pathophysiology current throughout the four years in order

to be better prepared for State Boards.

NUR 415: Pathophysiology

Course Pattern: 3 lec hrs. 0 lab hrs. 3 cr. hrs.

Prerequisites: NUR 292 NUR 392 Instructor consent

Corequisites: None

Description: The most common morbidity problems manifested in clients in the middle to late

adult years are studied. Pathophysiologic concepts and physiologic adaptive responses are

integrated with the nursing process. Through the use of research specific

supportive-educative and partially compensatory interventions are designed.

Description: The most common morbidity problems manifested throughout the lifespan are studied. Pathophysiologic concepts and physiologic adaptive responses are integrated with the nursing

process. The application of evidence based practice modalities provide a basis to formulate

therapeutic interventions which promote adaptation.

that are routinely utilized in nursing research.
