One credit hour was added to the existing Nursing Research course in order to add content in

the area of qualitative methodologies and evidence based practice.

Current:

NUR 390: Concepts of Role Development Research

Course Pattern: 2 lec hrs. 0 lab hrs. 2 cr. hrs.

Pre/Corequisites: BHS 201

Description: Building on the Concepts of Role Development course, the research process

as a foundation for understanding, communicating and evaluating nursing research

is explored. Utilization of research findings as part of accountability in professional

nursing practice is emphasized.

NUR 390: Nursing Research

Course Pattern: 3 lec hrs. 0 lab hrs. 3 cr. hrs.

Pre/corequisite: BHS 201

Description: This course is designed to introduce the student to evidence-based practice and nursing

research as a foundation for evolving nursing science. Quantitative and qualitative

methodologies are explored. Beginning critique skills are developed.

Ethical and national agendas that influence research are incorporated throughout the course.

The added content will provide students a broader understanding of research methodologies

that are routinely utilized in nursing research.
