Change in pre/co requisite for Soc 383. |
||
Justification:
Sociology 382 is preferred as the prerequisite for Soc 383 because
sociology and HDFS students would benefit from more exposure to multivariate
analyses and statistics used more frequently in sociological research
Current:
Soc 383: Introduction to Methods of Research II
(class 3 credit 3)
Prerequisite: BHS 201
Introduction to the methods of data collection and to
the use of the scientific method in social research.

experiments, observation, and interviewing,
documentation; content analysis; and surveys.

Proposed:
Prerequisite:

No other change.
Impact on Students:
Sociology students should be better prepared for SOC 383 by taking Sociology 382 instead of BHS 201. Therefore it is the appropriate prerequisite for SOC 383.

Summarize any discussions with the departments listed above:
BHS faculty who currently teach BHS 201 are willing and able to teach this course.
Impact on University Resources: None
Impact on General Education Requirements: None. SOC 382 is not to be included in meeting Science and Math Requirement.
