     C. JUSTIFICATION:

The revision of the program is in line with and compliments changes in the political science major and is designed to provide students with more flexibility in the selection of classes for the major, while, at the same time, preparing them to understand the problems, issues, and institutions of the criminal justice system.  The revision also incorporates the new Freshman Experience requirement.

     D.  IMPACT ON STUDENTS:  It is anticipated that there should be no adverse impact on students who will be given more flexibility and more opportunities to identify the courses that they wish to emphasize.

     E.  IMPACT ON OTHER UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS:  None.  The Department of History and

Political Science shares the criminal justice option with the Department of Behavioral Sciences, but there

are no substantive changes in the relevant sociology requirements, so there is no impact on Behavioral Sciences.

      F. RESOURCES:

No additional resources, including library resources, will be required for this program change.
