- Earned a bachelor and master degrees in education from Southern Illinois University
- Also earned a master´s degree in humanities from Wayne State University in Michigan
- Earned a Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan
- Was a faculty member since 1972 and he served as Head of the Dept. of English and Philosophy
- Was the Director of Purdue Calumet´s Institute for Regional Studies
- Was awarded the Outstanding Administrator Award at Purdue University Calumet in 1994
- Was an Associate Professor of English
- Was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Public Arts Preservation Committee
- Was elected Vice President/President Elect of the Indiana Film and Video Council
- Served as judge of the Senior Citizen Photo Exhibit at the Indiana State Fair
- Wrote a book titled "A Simple and Vital Design: The Story of the Indiana Post Office Murals."
