RE: Purdue University Calumet Diversity Steering Council

For almost two years a group of university faculty, staff and students have been meeting on a regular basis to facilitate a more comprehensive approach to diversity for the University Community. The Diversity Steering Council members are listed below.

Part of the initial work of this group has been to promote diversity across campus to faculty, staff and students, in order to create a campus environment that is accepting of all people. In addition, members of the group have compiled an inventory of diversity initiatives across campus. Through benchmarking efforts with a number of other campuses, the group has developed a Climate Survey focused on diversity in the workplace.

Toward the end of the spring semester 2003, I met with the Diversity Steering Council to complete planning for campus-wide administration of this Climate Survey for faculty and staff at Purdue University Calumet. Please extend the Diversity Steering Council your cooperation in completing the Survey that you will receive via campus mail.

The work of the Diversity Steering Council is extremely important as we continue implementation of our Strategic Plan.
