Subject:            Vice Chancellor for Student Services Selection Advisory Committee

 

I am pleased to announce that the search and screen process for the Vice Chancellor for Student Services position is underway.  I am hopeful that we will fill the position by July 1, 2006.

 

The Vice Chancellor for Student Services is the University’s chief student affairs officer, a member of the senior leadership team and reports to the Chancellor.  The VCSS is responsible for the strategic direction and line management of the following:  the Center for Career and Leadership Development, which includes Student Activities, Career Services, New Student Orientation and Student Employment; the Counseling Center; the Office of the Dean of Students; Fitness, Wellness and Sports: and Trio programs, which include Student Support Services, Upward Bound, the McNair Achievement Program and Talent Search.  The VCSS is ADA compliance officer and administrative liaison to the campus ADA committee, and also has oversight responsibilities related to student housing and a planned student health clinic.

REQUIREMENTS

 

Earned doctorate in an appropriate discipline (preferably Student Affairs administration, counseling, higher education or a behavioral science) from an accredited university.  Seven to ten years of higher education experience.  Five years of progressively responsible administration in student services; demonstrated skill in fiscal planning, management and staff supervision.  Knowledge of best practices, current issues and trends in Student Services.  Leadership ability to set direction to meet current and future needs of students at Purdue University Calumet.  Demonstrated ability to lead and develop professionals in creating innovative services and programs to support students in the learning environment and outside the classroom.  Knowledge of residential student living policies, practices and programs.  Knowledge of current ADA issues and practices.  Management skills including:  planning, financial resource management, budgeting and assessment-based quality improvement.
