TO:     The University Community

FROM:     Chancellor Howard Cohen

RE:     Two Appointments

I am pleased to welcome to the Purdue Calumet family Dolores M. Steuer‑Wagner as interim Vice Chancellor for Advancement and J. Allen Johnson as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor.  Both joined the university staff today.

Dolores, who previously held wide‑ranging administrative positions for Ameritech before retiring last year, has agreed to head our advancement operation on a temporary basis until a search for a permanent vice chancellor is conducted.  In her new position she oversees the university's development, alumni relations and university relations functions.

She offers extensive northwest Indiana experience in community and governmental affairs, interacting with Congressional leaders, managing and growing a contribution budget, and other aspects of business, sales and office management.

In his position, J. Allen will represent the Chancellor in various campus, regional and statewide functions.  He also will provide assistance in government‑ and community‑related matters.  Additionally, his job calls for him to help the university be responsive to students, faculty, staff, alumni and other university publics.

He offers a background in law, having worked as a staff attorney for the Federal Trade Commission.  He also formed a consulting company to provide diversity training.  Most recently, he has served as Executive Director of the Multicultural Center of Greater Green Bay Institute for Cultural Awareness and Cooperation.

Please join me in welcoming Dolores and J. Allen to Purdue Calumet.

Howard Cohen, Chancellor
