CHANCELLOR'S MEETING WITH DEANS, DIRECTORS AND DEPARTMENT HEADS
Minutes of June 5, 2000
I. Call to Order. Chancellor Yackel called the meeting to order.
II. Chancellor's Report. Chancellor Yackel said that Dr. Martin Jischke was offered the presidency of Purdue University and has accepted the offer. He spoke about Dr. Jischke's activities as President of Iowa State University, including fund raising. He said Dr. Jischke implemented Iowa State's total quality management program. He said the Board of Trustees' selection process was exceptional. Professor Chancey, Purdue University Calumet's representative to the Purdue University Senate Presidential Search Advisory Committee, said the committee was impressed with the information about the candidates it received, and said Dr. Jischke received unanimous support from the committee. Chancellor Yackel said Purdue University Calumet will prepare a presentation for Dr. Jischke. He said no timetable for it has been established, but that Purdue University Calumet would like to have him visit the campus. Chancellor Yackel said that Dr. Jischke will be good to work with, and anticipates changes that will open opportunities to this campus.
Chancellor Yackel presented information on the distribution of administrative/professional and faculty salary increases for 2000-2001. He thanked those who were involved in recommending increases, and said that the analysis shows that the university is accomplishing what it set out to do in terms of merit and market. He asked those present to make the information available to those who may ask about it.
III. Announcements/Q and A. Vice Chancellor Singer and D. Sharp spoke about the 2nd Annual Topics in Distance Learning Conference Program being held on campus this week, June 6 and 7. Vice Chancellor Singer said the number of attendees is double that of last year. D. Sharp said that information about the conference, including registration, could be found at calumet.purdue.edu/todl.
G. Sullivan updated various construction projects, including Anderson, Gyte 158, south SFLC canopy and drive, and the Challenger Conference Center.
V. Adjournment. With no other business to address the Chancellor adjourned the meeting.
