RE: Policies and Procedures for the Academic Calendar

The Committee on Resources and Planning recommends that the registrar’s office use the following template to develop calendars as needed for each academic year. This template replaces the current template, which does not allow for an eight-week summer session as specified in academic regulations. In addition, the current dates for the beginning of the fall session (Aug. 15-21) do not allow for a full week before the start of fall classes (Aug. 21-27). Therefore these dates should be changed to August 14-20.

Also, fall classes should end on Sunday, Dec. 7-13, rather than Saturday, Dec. 6-12, in order to stay consistent with the end of final exams, scheduled for Sunday Dec. 14-20. Similarly, spring classes should end on Sunday May 3-9, rather than Saturday May 2-8, to stay consistent with the end of spring finals, scheduled for Sunday May 10-16.

(The following template lists the dates that represent the extremes within which that one day can range over a period of several years.)
