TESTING AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY CALUMET
ENGLISH COMPOSITE
This score is derived through a formula which takes into account factors such as the student’s number of semesters and average grades in certain high school courses, HS rank percentile, SAT/ACT scores.
USES
1. This score (frequently with other criteria) is used to determine the student’s placement at Purdue Calumet either directly into his/her major, or as a pre-major, or as a student in the Developmental Studies Program. This score is NOT derived or used for non-traditional students.
2. This score is also used for course placement by the English Department.
MATHEMATICS PLACEMENT TEST
TEST USED: Descriptive Test of Mathematics Skills of the College Board
USE: Placement in appropriate mathematics course
Depending on the student’s previous level of mathematical skills and experience, either Test A or B or C (each with two subparts) is administered
READING PLACEMENT TEST
TEST USED: The Degrees of Reading Power (DRP) Test (Advanced Forms)

USE: This test is administered only to those students who are admitted into the Developmental Studies Program of the University Division.
The test helps determine the student’s placement into one of two Reading courses. The student may also test out of both courses.
