RE:   VOTE ON COUNCIL ACTION

Pursuant to action at the March 4, 1996, meeting of the Council of Faculty Delegates and in accordance with Article VIII of the Articles of Organization of the Purdue University Calumet Faculty and Bylaw 6.00 of the Council of Faculty Delegates, you are asked to accept or reject the February 5, 1996 action of the Council approving Council Document 96-1 and Council Document 96-2.

Council Document 96-1 affirms the November 6, 1995, vote of approval of Council Document 95-19Rev  University General Education Requirements: A. Basic Skills.

Council Document 96-2 affirms the November 6, 1995, vote of approval of Council Document 95-20Rev  University General Education Requirements: B. Collegiate Knowledge.

Enclosed with this memorandum, please find the following: copies of Council Document 95-19Rev and Council Document 95-20Rev; a summary of arguments in support of the General Education Requirements, a summary of arguments in opposition to the General Education Requirement; and a ballot for the two issues.  Also enclosed are two plain white envelopes.  One (the larger) is labelled. 

To vote:

1. Complete the ballot and enclose it in the smaller of the two envelopes.

2. Seal the smaller envelope.

3. Place the smaller envelope inside the larger, labelled envelope.

4. Print or type your name across the flap of the larger envelope.

5. Sign your name across the flap of the larger envelope.

6. Seal the larger envelope.

7. Mail the larger envelope so that it is received by no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 1996.

BALLOTS WILL BE CONSIDERED INVALID IF

- YOUR NAME IS NOT PRINTED ON THE LARGER ENVELOPE

- YOUR SIGNATURE DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE LARGER ENVELOPE

- THE BALLOT IS NOT RECEIVED BY 3:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 1996.
