RE:    Changes in the Selection of the Presiding Officer
       of the Council of Faculty Delegates.

The Faculty Affairs Committee of the Council of Faculty Delegates recommends the following changes to Council Document 93-6, regarding the selection of the presiding officer of the Council:

Change Section I and subsections A, B, C, D, and E to reed as follows:

I. The chancellor's designee for the presiding officer of the Council of Faculty Delegates shall be selected according to the following procedure:

A.  At the penultimate meeting of each year of the Council of Faculty Delegates, the Nominating Committee will circulate a list of Council members with at least one subsequent year of service remaining in their term.  Those who do not wish to serve as presiding officer of the Council may exclude themselves from consideration.

B.  At its final meeting of each year; the Council, be means of a secret ballot administered by the Nominating Committee, shall rank order a maximum of three nominees whose names shall be forwarded in rank order to the chancellor.

C.  From this slate of nominee(s), the chancellor shall select a designee to serve as the presiding officer of the Council for the subsequent academic year.

D.  In addition to chairing Council of Faculty Delegates meetings, the presiding officer shall attend Agenda Committee meetings.  It is recommended that the presiding officer of the Council not serve on any other standing committee of the Council of Faculty Delegates.

E.  No Change.
