SUBJECT:
Report on Plan to Change Exit Exam Procedure
The Department of English &
Philosophy has devised a plan to replace the current departmentally-graded Exit
Exam for English 020 and 104 with a teacher-graded Freshman Composition Final
Exam. The current University-wide
graduation requirement for certifying writing proficiency through the Exit Exam
will be replaced with the requirement of passing English 104 with a grade of at
least C. Transfer students from
outside the Purdue system will still meet the writing proficiency requirement
through taking the writing exam at the Skills Assessment Center.
All Purdue system students transferring Comp I credit will automatically
meet the writing proficiency
requirement if they have obtained a grade of C in the Comp I course they are
transferring.
